Fluor group (FLR) today announced that an alliance composed of fluor, JGC of Japan and technipfmc of France has obtained the engineering, procurement and construction contract of Mozambique Rovuma venture S.p.A. (MRV), which involves the phase I project of Mozambique Rovuma liquid natural gas (LNG) in Cabo Delgado of mosanbic, and immediately issued the Notice of commencement. Fluor will complete the work in the fourth quarter of 2019.

"It's a great pleasure to be selected for this strategic development and to work with a team with very rich LNG expertise and design and construction capabilities on the African continent," said the president of fluor energy and chemicals. We worked closely to build a project model based on the strengths and capabilities of all parties. We worked with MRV to advance this landmark project in a safe, reliable and sustainable way, creating new opportunities for Mozambique and its people.

The project will develop zone 4 of the ultra deep Rovuma basin, a huge offshore gas field off the coast of Mozambique with gas reserves of up to 15 trillion cubic feet.

MRV is a joint venture owned by Eni, ExxonMobil and CNPC, with a 70% stake in the 4-zone exploration and production concession contract. GALP, kogas and empresa Nacional de hidrocarbonetos E.P. each hold 10% of the shares.

Fluor has more than 55 years of experience in Africa and has implemented over 750 projects across the continent.
